Across Oceans

I am reminded of oceans when I think of her.
The oceans that separate us...
The depths of the emotion that I feel for her...
The very waters of the love that wells up within me,
When she comes to my mind.

I am in love, sinking in love,
Treading only out of habit.
I await the moment when I simply give in,
Surrender, and let myself drown,
So that I may rise again to the surface a new man.
Living only on our love.

I want to cry, cry away the pain of my yesterdays,
Rivers of the anguish of my past, going out to sea.
I want to cleanse myself of the stains upon my soul,
So that I may be pure for her,
And fill my heart with the joy that she brings.

I am in love, sinking in love,
Treading only out of habit.
I await the moment when I simply give in,
Surrender, and let myself drown,
Praying that I rise to the surface a new man.
Living only on our love.

I am a dying man in a desert,
Walking twice forty days and forty nights,
No rest in sight for my wicked soul.
I am parched, no rains to quench my thirst,
My father, the storm, has forgotten me.
She is the oasis I've long sought amidst countless mirages.

I am in love, sinking in love,
Treading only out of habit.
I await the moment when I simply give in,
Surrender, and let myself drown,
And I shall rise to the surface a renewed man,
Living on our love.
